This report was done over 25 years ago. However let's just say they had gone ahead with these recommendations. That would mean the dams would be supplying 30% of Perths water needs today. I think the desalination option was the right one to secure water needs into the future. Keep in mind the water in the dams these days is not all from streamflow as they are also being used to store desalinated and ground water.
