Not sure that the oil industry won't find significant ways to reduce or recycle water use. You seem to think the oil companies are dummies. And as for energy conservation, the Yanks are miles ahead of us. We're the world's heaviest per head. Unlike America, it's still not the required to have double pane windows, regardless of climate, in Oz. And we ship far, more commerce by truck where they ship a most by train or barge. Much more energy efficient.
I worked there for a number of years and visit at least once a year. I would never bet against them for any period of time.
