with trial and error - watso has developed his own unique cooking systems - eg.. the other day watso bought 500 gm pork sausages (rtc naturally) and 6 snags in a pack .. watso put 5 snags in a 1 litre thermos - and one snag in a smaller 500ml thermos ... the cooking process took 3x800ml lots of boiling water from the kettle ..

ok ok ok that sounds crazy .. but imagine being a traveller and in a hotel room .. there will be a kettle - but no cooking type stuff ..

anyway the sausages were cooked - and for extra taste - just a quick finish in the frypan ...

cooking rice in a thermos .. with trial and error - watso will not cook white rice in a thermos - but brown rice is great to cook in the thermos..

white rice is easily overcooked - and only good for rice pudding ..

for brown rice - watso uses a two stage process ... (these days watso is single ) .. 100gm of brown rice in a ikea 500ml vacuum flask .. fill with boiling water .. shake a bit, lay the flask on the side - shake again - and throw the water away after 15 minutes (that process cleans the rice and warms up the flask) .. then fill the flask again with boiling water - and the brown rice will be cooked in about an hour - but it will NOT OVER COOK like white rice ... so can leave the brown rice in the vacuum flask for a few hours and use when needed ..

a meal that watso sometimes does - is a watso measure of generic cheap spiral pasta ..in a 500ml (maybe 600ml) vacuum flask - filled with boiling water .. then dice up some vegies (carrots are always cheap at spudshed) - and do them in the microwave ..... the pasta will be cooked in 17 minutes .. lol lol then combine the pasta with the vegies and add a can of cheap sardines ..

ie in 17 minutes - watso can knock up a good healthy feed

lol lol forget the sardines - watso stocked up on canned herring from aldi at 99c/can
