The Fibonacci number sequence is 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21,...

The Fibonacci number sequence is 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233 etc.

The easy way to find the next number is to add the previous two numbers together i.e. 5 + 8 = 13.

The other way to find the next number is to multiply the number by 1.618 then round it off & this will give you the following number i.e. 13 x 1.618 = 21.

Other important numbers or percentages are 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, 76.4%, 161.8% & 261.8%.
These numbers are often expressed as 0.236, 0.382, 0.5, 0.618, 0.764, 1.618 & 2.618.

The most powerful numbers appear to be 0.382, 0.5, 0.618 & 1.618.

You will notice that 0.236 is the reciprocal of 0.764 & 0.382 is the reciprocal of 0.618.

The numbers relate to one another. For instance, multiply 0.618 by 1.618 = 1
Also 0.618 x 0.618 = 0.382.

These numbers can be used in predicting the length of waves in financial markets & also retracements.

A wave 2 will often retrace wave 1 by 61.8% & if this is the case, wave 3 should be expected to be at least 1.618 times the length of wave 1 & sometimes 2.618. Retracements in waves 2 & 4 are often of similar length but will be totally different in character e.g. a flat, a zig zag or even a triangle. As a result of the first & third waves being of different length, it is likely that wave two is 61.8 of wave one & wave two is 38.2% of wave three which could make them both of a similar length.

Wave 5 is usually Fibonacci related to either the first wave (similar length) or Fibonacci related to the entire sequence (often 38.2% of total 5 waves). In order to work out this target, take the length of the move from the beginning of wave one to the end of wave four & multiply the answer by 0.618 & this should give you the expected length of wave 5.
