as an ancillary device it may add some energy to a existing ship. Guess same could be said as why ships are not covered in solar panels a sthey spend all day in sun and have reflected light from water so even hull sides would contribute energy?

For a WEC using a point isolater and the motion of the hull you generally would optimise the hull shape ( if energy production was your sole concern) to so it rolls liek all hell so it has the most motion to product the most energy.

Hoep they have sucess but like everything on industrial scale simplicity is generally everything. Interesting that so much design goes into hull shapes to get particular dynamics and ships like cruisliners are using gyros and stabilisers to give smooth ride and aslo lower stress on boat that a point isolator could have multipurpose possible.

Everything gets funded in university but what comes out in real world is what is important although all that learnt knowledge often steers technology via stopping others going down exact same failed pathways without further innovation.

Back to work on my perpetual motion machine - nearly got it - if I can just get it to not need the 10% extra energy input I'll save the world !!!!
