Another mining firm, Batulao Mineral Corp. (BMC), has informed the local government of its plan to conduct exploration activities in 4,860 hectares in six villages of Bayombong, Solano and Quezon towns.

Emiliano Alvarez, president of Batulao Mineral Corp. (BMC), informed the local government of the company’s plan to explore prospects for gold, copper, silver, lead, zinc and other minerals.

Assessment

"[The project intends] to assess the applied area for the possible mineralization of minerals found therein and to develop the same for the possible utilization," Alvarez said.

He said the company has allotted P6.9 million for the two-year exploration project.

The project is looking at exploration areas in the villages of Paitan (Bayombong); Quirino and Sitio Bugnay in Bagahabag (Solano); and Nalubbunan, Darubba and Caliat (Quezon), all of which straddle the Magat River here.

BMC is the latest mining company to signify its interest in the mineral resources of the province.

Climax Arimco Mining Corp., an Australian company, is working to get favorable endorsement by the host communities, while Oxiana Phils. Inc., also an Australian firm, is conducting exploration work in two separate areas.
