Guys, Redpath has not been able to reach production schedules at Smokey Hills. Why not. The open pit stockpiles were depleted before the first production stope came on line, so the build up to mine steady state run of mill was already behind. Underground development was no where near planned target.
Were production and mining costs on the current mine design actually achievable, or did the contractor just agree to the mining schedule to get the contract, lets get on the pitch first, and then we will bat.
The easy part is telling the markets what you are going to do the hard part is doing it. If the mine design cannot allow for the development rates needed to meet production targets then the games over.
Why will the new contractor be any different, the mining method and the production schedule has not changed, and the workforce comes from the same local community.
