Its now offering 8% fixed term deposit for 5yrs
When you think about it they wouldn't offer that rate if they wern't confident of the fixed mortgage rate going over %8, because if it didn't go over 8% then they'd be essentially help paying other peoples mortgages or them.
So you'd be crazy to lock in the amount you'd spend on a property on a 5yr fixed term deposit @ 8% then take out a mortgagae below 8% now.
IMHO WBC are clearly saying here with their 5yr fixed term offer @8% that fixed mortgges are going over 8% in the short term.
