Losses are painful and it hurts when you see paper losses on your investments. My biggest losses were incurred when investments were made in risky businesses or speculative stocks to make quick money.
Learnt one key thing after 29 years of investing and trading in shares. Invest in quality blue chip companies and sit tight and wait patiently for 5, 10, 15, 20 years. The payoff will be worth it. Assuming there is a dividend cut and it gets reduced from $1.60 to $1.40 per year. Gross dividend yield works out to 10.3% after taking into account the franking credit. This is damn good considering RBA rate is 0.50%, term deposits are yielding less than 1% and mortgage rates are less than 3%.
What do you do when you see money lying on the streets? Pick it up!!!
Bought some more WBC shares this morning and total WBC share holding as of now is 27,308 shares and average cost is around $20.40 and will keep buying more.
