Yes things are bad and it looks like it is getting ugly each day. The uneasiness and struggle of dealing with paper losses is a journey that will make our investing character stronger. Those who stand their ground will come out stronger after all this is behind us. To the victor belongs the spoils. We do not find our inner strength until the time we face our greatest weaknesses. Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts. True strength lies in keeping everything together when everyone expects you to fall apart. Weakness is a choice and anyone can give up but giving up is the easiest thing to do. It is hard not to get carried away in times like this. A moment of weakness can lead to a wrong decision to sell shares at these prices. It is hard to keep holding ourselves together in such times but times like these reveal your true strength and character. There comes a time in every man's life when man looks in the abyss, there's nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.

Some of us might be finding it hard than others, to ignore the silly comments about Westpac bankruptcy and all the doom gloom. Those who are trying to create a panic by posting nonsense comments, are only revealing their investment character. You need to stay positive and look at the bright side. Markets always over react and shares get oversold and prices drop below intrinsic values. This is the time to buy and not to sell. Sitting tight is the hardest thing to do in times like this. This will also pass. The night is the darkest just before the dawn.

Banking has been around throughout our recorded history. Banking is a solid business and it has been around one form or the other for centuries like the mountains and trees. Banks were institutionalised under the Roman empire and our modern banking system has evolved over the past 100 years as times changed and it will continue to evolve in the future. Westpac is one of the strongest bank in the world. Westpac has been around for 202 years and it has evolved in the past as the banking system changed and it will continue to evolve in the future.
