Hi Snowy62.........suggest you google linear regression analysis.
It's very difficult to predict stock market prices with high accuracy. However, compared with other predictive methods, linear regression can do that with a superior accuracy.
In order to that, you need to learn how to obtain (starting point)........visualise....... and then analyse, the price data.
Never attempt to rationalise stock market price action.......and always keep in mind, FUNDAMENTAL analysis and TECHNICAL analysis are NOT mutually inclusive.
Below is 1 of 3 relevant lr charts, also incorporating the down trend line from the ('hold that thought') chart.......highlighting the PREDICTIVE (forward looking) nature of the chart......from 20/01/21.
Unfortunately, current momentum/sentiment suggests further down side (imo).
