Am not sure with a stock the size of WBT that hedging with CFD's is a realistic or likely scenario
Also index funds entering the ASX200 or ASX300 will have a requirement to hold a certain dollar value of stock based on the size of their fund and the index weight of the specific stock
The shorts could be a hedge against a long position, but suspect if there is, it would be against a non index holding
Keep up the input Slick and Insected Always to balance out all sides of the ledger
