Weebit is not differentiating based on endurance. They have the same 100x better than Flash of existing ReRAM (Flash has 10,000 cycles). The big differentiator they are aiming for is price due to fab friendly materials. I'd like to know how much cheaper than competitors. If the cost is 5-8% of wafer cost, how does that compare to competitor offerings.
I'd also like to know what material is used in the recently announced OTS selector. Since its not specifically mentioned I'd hazard a guess that it's a chalcogenide OTS selector that LETI has been working on. https://www.ednasia.com/ovonic-threshold-switching-leads-to-breakthrough-in-memories/. Is chalcogenide a Fab-Friendly material? Is this, or similar, OTS selector already being used by competitors? Is the cost advantage maintained if a different material is introduced?
It's early days and I'm sure it will advance their research but I look forward to detail.
