Yes, I didn't understand the significance of the comment "persistent memory with variable and tuneable retention".
Perhaps 4DS's technology can be tweaked to work as a NVRAM, but that is not the direction they are heading in. It would seem that they have shifted there focus away from NVRAM and towards DRAM. The 4th platform lot is best characterised as a DRAM with very long refresh time. 3B refresh cycles, at a rate of 1 per second, yields an operational life of 95 years - perfectly adequate. However, this is a company still firmly in research mode.

Agree. Could work with DRAM (or completely replace it, depending on cost). Could also be used to buffer storage class memory.
