    I suppose you're right: they'd just reach a settlement with the ATO and all would be forgotten until the next inquiry...

    I particularly enjoyed his opening paragraph:

    The puzzling question swirling around billionaire shopping mall tycoon Frank Lowy and his decade-old tax issues is why he went to such lengths to disguise a donation to charity. Charitable donations are tax deductible anyway.

    A point well made!

    I couldn't bear to feed Lowy's ego by reading his biography.
