wdc / wrt distribution - calculating cgt

Hi all,

I have a question on how to enter in my records the WDC/WRT issue that took place at the end of last year. I'm keeping these records so I can calculate my capital gains, so need to get the cost basis and purchase date right.

At that time I had 480 WDC shares which I had bought for $10.47 each on 11/2/2009.

WDC 480
Purchase price/share: $10.47
Purchase date: 11/2/2009

After the captial distribution I have:

WDC 480
Purchase price: $10.47 (??)
Purchase date: 11/2/2009

WRT 480
Purchase price: $??
Purchase date: ??

I've looked at the information on the Westfield website (http://westfield.com/corporate/pdf/2010-12-cost-base-of-wrt-securities.pdf) and am still not much the wiser on how to fill in the ?? above.

Can someone let me know how to calculate the effective purchase price of the WRT shares, and what the new effective price of the WDC shares are after the allocation? Also, is the purchase date of the WRT shares the purchase date of the original WDC shares or 20/12/2010?
