    No there is the implication that sea levels lag behind the temperature, but scientists have warned that in the past that catch-of ice melting can happen is a very short time ---as little as a couple of years.

    If the huge ice shelves--- that are showing signs of splitting in Antarctica--- break away, then sea level rise will accelerate at an even faster rate than in the past couple of decades.
