A nice post, debono, and I agreed with your sentiments.

It's difficult to see such hate being stirred up in Australia. Sure, I am outraged at the terrorists, and people who support them. But people here paying out on all Arabs, all refugees, all immigrants to Australia, it sickens me.

I had previously thought that Australia has an attitude of tolerance, and that hatred like in the Balkans or the occupied territories couldn't happen here. But if the posts on HC are representative, then the average Aussie is no better.

There is hope though, I suppose. It's human nature to be inspired to hatred and revenge, but it's also human nature to want a safe and normal existence. Israel has already made peace with Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon, so it is possible that solutions can be found in the future.
