    Yes I know.
    But if there is corporate action , as Shish mentions , an extra few months holding won’t be opportunity cost because the resulting price change will be at least 60-70% . Very few investors will achieve a return much above 12% annualised long term, the best of the best maybe high teens . So my point is the average lost return (opportunity cost ) likely to be low , and there are zero guarantees what you re allocate the money will be better or even positive. Even if it took you 2 years to achieve 60% you have done about 3-3.5 times the average annualised sharemarket return
