I read some real positives into Steve’s comments in recent interviews - particularly about debt funding and the possibility of discussions around this with a potential offtake partner. I have no doubt that any possible offtake partner would have set hurdles/milestones that would need to be achieved before they stump up millions of dollars. Milestones like:
- proving Lilac’s DLE can produce Battery Grade product (tick)
- proving the scalability of the pilot plant and the production of Battery Grade product at higher scale (very close)
- potential offtake partners qualifying samples (3-6 months conservatively)
The implication is that we will have both debt funding and at least one signed up offtake partner by the end of the year.
Of course, all of the above wasn’t expressly stated - but reasonably implied in what Steve has said in recent times. Hopefully, time proves me correct!
I feel that we are close to that re-rate we are all waiting for and that the next 3-6 months will set things up for the longer term in a big way. Keeping all of that in mind, it is extremely important for us to not make any mis-steps during this period. We should be taking the time to get things right before putting out announcements and going the next step.....just as we seem to have done with commissioning the pilot plant recently.
