So Buddy, can you tell us what a safe level of gearing is? My understanding's that a safe level of gearing's whatever the banks are happy with. That's why I used the word "probably" safe. It all depends whether the banks think they can get their money back if the whole thing is wound up. Given falling asset values since the GFC it's very hard to estimate what the net asset value of any company is. I would think that the banks would certainly feel more comfortable with AIOs gearing post the conditional placement (assuming it happens).
