PALAWAN, PHILIPPINES: Nido Petroleum Ltd. secured a rig slot with Awilco Offshore's newbuild jackup WilBoss for a two-firm-well exploration programme in North Palawan Basin SC54 offshore the Philippines. The rig is on charter to Nido under a sublet agreement with Premier Oil. WilBoss is presently drilling in Premier Oil's Blackbird field and expected to begin the SC54 campaign from October 2008.
Nido is also looking to secure a semisubmersible rig to drill on the deepwater Gindara prospect in 2009. Nido operates SC54 with a 60 per cent stake, with partner Kairiki Energy holding the remaining interest.
