I also would like to add that if you are so concerned about violence against women these statistics should worry you. This comes from a survey done by the UN and published in the Economist, as far as I am concerned one of the most reputable publications out there:
1. It is a man's duty to exercise guardianship over his female relative:
Egypt: 75%
Morocco: 75%
Lebanon: 30%
Palestine: 80%

2.There are times when a woman deserves to be beaten:
Egypt: 50%
Morocco: 35%
Lebanon: 20%
Palestine: 30%
Between 10 and 45% admitted to have beaten their wife and between 30 and 60% to have harassed women in the street (spread between the 4 countries)

Perhaps we should also send these statistics to that genius who said that it was the most pro woman religion out there
