    It sounds like he has received the normal standard of care for people with mental illness of his type.
    I am sure there will be plenty of comment on the doctors decision to reduce his meds.
    That's one for the medical profession though.

    Society needs to decide is this how we treat people with mental illness?

    The incidence of violence like this is low, but certainly high profile and emotive.
    They are more likely to harm themselves than others.

    People can talk about triggers and prevention and a utopian wholistic approach.
    The real issue is how do we treat people with mental illness because we cannot eliminate mental illness.

    It has certainly changed in the last decades, does it get the right balance of individual and societies rights?
