I have had psychosis on two occasions so I know a bit more than most. You are right, mental illness is tough, you cannot tell reality from fiction. The brain is extremely powerful, and no amount of talking or gestures of help will convince you otherwise.
But this guys mental illness was drug induced. Is that everyone's fault? Nope, it is his fault because of his decisions.
