This is only speculation.
There is currently no take over offer in relation to MNM.
I was only discussing the reason "someone" may be capping the share price.
In relation to your question, if a company makes an on market take over bid, people can choose to sell into that bid or not. If the company acquires 90% or more of the shares they have to buy out the remaining 10%.
If a company makes an off market take over bid, share holders get to vote on accepting the offer price. If the offer is accepted then the company has to buy the shares at that price. Unless of course you can get a minority share holder to appeal to the court (FMS) or the company come back a year later and decide that you want to change the offer price (SDL).
But those cases are a whole different story and have kept Hot Copper posters entertained while nothing else has been happening on the market.
