Yes Covid typically takes about two weeks to put sufferer's into ICU and three weeks to kill them so it's too soon to know.
The newer strains, from what I have read, seem to be more easily spread and more likely to infect younger healthier people which would increase the survival rate.
They also seem to cause more long term health problems for those who recover.
