Do people actually believe that you can elect to 'go on the dole'? Like this is an option ie not work and collect free money every fortnight?
Newsflash - you can't just choose to 'go on the dole'. There is no 'free ride' option legislated in our laws.
There are checks and balances that need to met by those claiming to be unemployed and actively seeking work... and if these checks and balances are not met you are not paid.
If these checks and balances are not being applied and enforced correctly then maybe these departments should be resourced properly to ensure the legislation is effective?
Work for the dole is always a fair option as well imo... it could be implemented after a certain period of unemployment. Not too much to ask is it?
