as a former Irish resident i can tell you that over there banks are not what they are here, banks in Ireland have a higher social conscience, if your mortgage repayments are $400 a week and your going through hard times and can only pay $200 a week, then they'll take what you give them. Evicting someone from there home is seen as the absolute worst thing you can do. It strikes a raw nerve as it goes back in history to when the English were in Ireland. The bank will try to save community face at any cost. Probably to their own detriment but that's how they do business. Things may have changed now the banks are all broke but this was how it used to be.
