apparently the story is George Soros dumped nearly all his stake in Gold US$800m worth and other players followed suit.
My guess is that he is betting on US interest rates coming up. It is the sort of thing Soros does - makes bets on National economic policy - he is the guy that made gazillions shorting the pound a while back.
From a GOR view point it probably does not mean a lot but makes the market a bit choppy.
