    @moondoong; congratulations on starting the sort of conversation so desperately needed in Australia. If only we could resolve issues including better addressing global warming and climate change we could focus on planning for a better future.

    What matters most are those core VALUES which bind us together - these must be determined by Australians collectively and emphatically stated front and centre in a new Constitution. We must not write into the Constitution romanticised stories about British colonisation which ignore and denigrate Aboriginal Peoples and their attachment to 'Australia', such a preface must be a frank and honest factual statement about who we are and the stories which have made us what we are.

    If we are to ever to make the transition from a colonial outpost of the UK to a more mature, dynamic, humane and fairer society a new Constitution must eat, sleep and breathe those values and that frank honesty.

    The list you compiled in your OP appear to embody our current core values, I'm on the record at HC as a supporter of most of them, albeit in a different order of priority.
