Percora says Rio Tinto (not BHP) owned the Bougainville
copper mine. Rio Tinto owned 54% of the company
that ran the mine. But the lesson is the same:
The arrogance of greedy white men caused a
revolution that left the mine in ruins at a time
when global copper prices where Sky-High.
This tragic outcome is called Karma by Buddhists
Christ called it "As you sow, so shall you reap."
Nobody except small children and the insane
is immune from reaping their misdeeds.
And that includes me. Hence my morning prayer:
"Dear God, just for today, please stop me from
behaving like a complete ars*hole." I believe
that enlightenment follows a prayer for help.
