Virgin is doing it hard. So is QANTAS - but not so bad as Virgin. The Government needs to step in and assist Virgin to keep it going. QANTAS the spoiler is saying if you assist Virgin you need to give us more. QANTAS will survive without a government handout. Virgin will not.
What will happen if virgin fails? Airfares will go up exponentially!! QANTAS has already doubled the price of its domestic routes that are not serviced by Virgin.
Australia should never again be a one Airline country. We need 2 possibly 3 competitors to keep airfares in Australia affordable. QANTAS is doing everything it can to shut out Virgin.
IMHO F*ck QANTAS and keep Virgin afloat otherwise QANTAS will F*ck every Australian looking for a cheap domestic flight.
Any money spent keeping Virgin flying is money well spent.
