No Dave it should not ever be thought of as long term that is the problem. Ok you pay tax you are entitled less tax paid you take out less. Lets be honest if you are highly paid or a professional you are motivated to work. They will not be as likely to remain on welfare.
I think we need to change the concept the state pays for me forever.
