    1.We don’t know what’s coming. Nothing is ever certain in science: for all we know AGW may have averted any forthcoming Ice Age.

    2. True, trillions worth of resources HAVE been wasted on war and defence. That doesn’t mean we have to prioritise human survival of extreme climates over the human misery - poverty, disease, malnutrition - that is occurring now, does it?

    3. The ideal is of course to prevent extreme conditions from happening in the first place. However we don’t know how much worse global warming will get before we have the means to reverse it.

    So we need massively increased research budgets for devising the most economical, safe, and effective ways of geo engineering climate. And this means to try create as much wealth as possible in the process, so that quality of life is not sacrificed.
