Interesting article. I, for one, as a centre/right voter, think the left elites and going ‘more left’ by he year, are a throwback to the sixties rebellious crowd that grew up in Cold War / post World War: constrained male dominated society driven by old fashioned beliefs and class structure.
Thing is, the new ‘rebellion’ is climate change and various other minority subjects like animal farming.
Trouble is that rebellion is not really being taken up by the masses. They don’t have a conflict like they did with class structure and women treated appallingly (although lots of men still need a lesson or two in that field).
The masses do see the underpinning of democracy being systematically undermined by relentless immigration which is now often wanton and not planned. They do see big business paying no taxes and other things that pi55 most of us off.
So left elite and masses have a conflict. No surprise there is no support for left leaning views. The lefts utopia is a broken dream of a perfect ‘all prosper model’ (but left elites really run the show for the unsuspecting ‘masses’)
Mind you the fight for the right (the centre right - not the racist, highly strung, thug idiot far right) has begun in earnest. It will be focussed by the rebellion on immigration in lots of countries undermining National identity and big business getting away with murder on taxes and various other centre right themes, like infrastructure and growth for all. The left elite could do with following those battles to come. It would solve one of two of their own battles too - they are just too ‘elite’ to notice. Oh and they also want the power - don’t they all?
