I did Canungra in 1983.
Tough place with lots of steep hills compared to WA.
First day there was a forced march, with full kit, to the top of the mountain before breakfast.
Hard to do without eating first.
Many did not make it to the top without stopping, and many vomited on the way.
None of the smokers made it.
1983 was a peaceful time thanks to the many whom did Canungura in the 1960s, etc.
