lihir gold says it is on track to produce a record 205,000 to 215,000 ounces in the final quarter, which would take full year production to 630,000 to 640,000 an ounce, up from last year's 596,000 ounces.
This is expected to jump again to over 800,000 ounces in 2007, as Lihir grows processing capabilities, and the company says revenues will benefit from continuing strength in the gold price.
The Papua New Guinea-based miner is also looking at ways it can increase production to over one million ounces, with a full feasibility study expected to go ahead in 2007.
