Correct struggler, it is the finest form of social conditioning. From a young age everyone is told they "must have" this and that, and the media re-enforces this. Products aren't made to last anymore, or are "updated" (you know, slightly higher res camera etc) yearly instead of being made to last as long as possible. My socks don't even last 12 months anymore without being covered in holes.
A real throw away society in which we live in now, all perpetuated by capitalism. What is the solution? I don't know, life could be so much better for everyone, not to mention the environmental damage we could save this planet from if society wasn't suffering at the hands of this bad capitalism. In theory capitalism is not a bad thing, but it gets out of control as you can see all around you.
But the real question is, do people WANT change? Well I know one thing for certain, there are plenty of people who do not.
