We are still open to investments

Although we have a new law banning exploration and extraction of uranium, raw material projects in Greenland are not closed, assures naalakkersuisoq for finance, raw materials, the area of justice and gender equality Naaja Nathanielsen, who has held meetings with a number of mining companies in the past week including Greenland Minerals.

It is no secret that we have lawyers on both sides of the table, as it could potentially end in a lawsuit, says naalakkersuisoq for finance, raw materials, the area of justice and gender equality, Naaja Nathanielsen about the dialogue with Greenland Minerals.

Naalakkersuisoq for finance, raw materials, the area of justice and gender equality, Naaja H. Nathanielsen (IA) has this week been in Denmark to, among other things, hold meetings with some of the raw material companies active in Greenland including Bluejay Mining, LNS and Greenland Minerals .

Because even though the Naalakkersuisut passed a new law on zero tolerance for uranium, and thus put a stop to a few projects in Greenland in December 2021, the policy remains that Greenland is open to investments and raw material projects.

    - The raw materials sector is an industry that requires predictability, and therefore we have announced from the beginning that we follow the mineral strategy that the previous coalition launched before the election. So in that way we have no different approach to the raw material companies than the previous coalition, says Naaja Nathanielsen.

We have had and continue to have a good dialogue with the industry about what they demand from us, for example a smoother case processing, which we are working on. We will not change royalties or anything else that affects the companies' operations and finances. So we move on with the set-up that was in place before and try to create as much predictability for the companies that are in the country as at all possible.

    New law has caused unrest

However, a relationship has changed. The new law on zero tolerance for exploration and extraction of uranium has been introduced and it has had an impact on a few project owners including French Orano and Australian Greenland Minerals. In addition, it has created uncertainty throughout the industry about what the applicable rules are.

    - The new law has given a bump in the road. It has given rise to uncertainty in some areas, which the industry is not happy about. But at the same time I would like to say that the companies that work with uranium have all these years been subject to special conditions. So the debate is not new to these companies. The fact that we have now clearly stated our policy in relation to uranium also helps to create calm. Now everyone knows what the framework is like. And the industry also knows this framework from other countries that, like us, have a uranium ban. But it is clear that mining companies do not like restrictions.

    - We also agree that there are some projects that have been directly affected by the law.

    - It is clear that Greenland Minerals has been directly affected by the new legislation. We do not take their license from them, but they can not hope to get a exploitation permit. Since 2011, they have had special conditions, and have thus shown that there could be a political change in the legislation in this area.

    May end in lawsuit

Greenland Minerals has submitted their white paper, which is still being processed. According to Naaja Nathanielsen, it will be completed after the summer of 2022 at the earliest.

Meetings are currently taking place between Greenland Minerals and the Ministry of Minerals at the Danish Chamber Advocate. Meetings that can end in a conflict.

It is no secret that we have lawyers on both sides of the table, as it could potentially end in a lawsuit, says Naaja Nathanielsen, who does not believe that the administration could have been clearer in their communication with the company.

    - But you can of course always discuss whether the company should have had that exploration license in the first place. But they were given it, and every effort was made to fence in the conditions. However, this is not about Greenland's Minerals being hit, but about the fact that the Greenlandic population has a skepticism about uranium, and we are, after all, more obligated by it than a company's expectations. That's how it must be. I have sympathy and understanding for the company's frustration, but I insist that we have introduced a zero tolerance and I believe that is the right thing to do. I also believe that we can easily run a mining industry in Greenland regardless, says Naaja Nathanielsen.

    SUMMARY:

Naaja N makes no mention of the result of the actual meeting with GML but has clearly stated the overall position of IA to all companies, her mention of response to EIA/White Paper demonstrates the falseness of previous commentary that they the Government would respond promptly.

As I previously mentioned it is going to be a Bumpy Road and this Editorial statement allows the IA breathing space while they possibly adjust their position. Mining in Greenland still shows clear uncertainty in her statement regarding GML receiving permission with special conditions...

The Fact remains that the Government of Greenland have broken their word on Special Conditions and many in Greenland are looking for Jobs and progress in Social issues. That fact alone still means that Greenland is not a stable and secure place to do business and investment money on what should be a World Class project......

IA have given themselves breathing space by DELAYING THE RESPONSE TO WHITE PAPER

    Another LIE.....

However world politics will overtake Greenland and it would seem that they have given themselves breathing space to reach a "Compromise and Collaboration"....

What will Naaja Nathanielsens response be to the Parliament...The White Paper was clearly Stated to be responded promptly back in August 2021 or thereabouts.
In Parliament she will not give the full story and present some falsehoods. Questioning will continue from the opposition on where are the jobs ect.

Let see how the next step plays out remembering there has not been a referendum on Uranium or GML just an election. The Government and people are still strongly divided
    .
"How a Society Can Choose to Succeed or FAIL'

    Lets see how GML responds...

    "Compromise and Collaboration"

    "Go Thor"
