If Select have escaped hail damage at Cullulleraine, they will have been very lucky.
A farm at Merrinee North, about 10km east of there, copped "thousands of acres" of destroyed grain, and there were also crop losses near Bambill, 12-15 km west of Cullulleraine.
Surandy's point is correct, depending on the type of storm. But if there are heavy hail stones being driven by a 100kmh wind, which is likely to have been the situation in many areas on Thursday, then there will be broken branches and stripped bark. And a mess to clean up.
