Depends on whether the cat has fully exhaled prior to death or not. My wife's neighbours had a cat that fell from their 18th floor apartment window after slipping off an icey window ledge. Puss was waiting at the security entrance as if nothing had happened when they got down there, a bit wet from the snow, but chose to stay away from any open windows ledges after that apparently.
