What a mistake! I normally use Heat Beads in the Weber, however Mrs Shiggy purchased
Coles branded offerings some time ago, then purchased Lokkii thingys from Woolworths
two days ago, in preparation for a pork roast. The Coles ones were small to the extent that
24 took the space I normally put 18 Heat Beads. The problem was getting them to burn.
They would make wonderful fire retardant. I have a gas torch that usually lights anything
up, but the Coles beads resisted, so I threw them out and put in the Lokki hex shaped things
and lit up. After about an hours cooking I checked and found there was no hope of crackling or
anything else in the forseeable future, so the pork went into the oven for finishing.
With my pride and reputation in tatters, a new bag of Heat Beads was purchased and I'm happy
to say tonight's roast beef is well on its way.
