If there is no travel for years we would have much bigger concerns as 25%+ (at the very minimum) would be wiped from Australia's economy as Tourism + international students make up ~25% of Australia's revenue alone.

To give you an idea of how screwed we would be, and it wouldn't matter whether you had shares that were travel related or mining or whatever as it just wouldn't even matter anymore.. $90 billion+ per year would be longer be a part of the Australian revenue. So half of our $182 billion deficit each and every year. Our country would be in such complete ruin we would be begging for covid as that would be far less painful.

So I don't think it will be years. We will open the doors far sooner than that. Even if it was 1 year we would be knocking on the trillion dollar debt door just from lack of travel alone. Something will need to give - and the best chance of even bringing some of those losses back would be to open a trans oceanic travel bubble. Firstly between AU and NZ - travel agents that are based in both of these countries are going to be the winners by far from this as they will have the lions share of the lions share (as we would be talking about only those agents that survived) in a world where people have been locked down in isolation and yearning to get out and travel.
