The Morrison government has reached an agreement with British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca to secure 25 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine that is under an advanced stage of development.

Amid growing optimism in Australia and abroad that a coronavirus vaccine will soon be developed, the agreement would secure access to a vaccine being developed by the University of Oxford and which could be available this year or early next year................
