Satcomms a priority at Diggers and Dealers

Satellite communications are an essential part of any remote mining operation, but at this week’s annual Diggers and Dealers convention where there is only one satellite company set up camp – Australian-owned NewSat Limited (ASX:NWT).

The conference which has gained a reputation to bring out the crème de la crème in the mining world each year, is a one stop shop for miners and NewSat has reached the top for providing communications to the industry.

NewSat CEO Adrian Ballintine said satellite communications were not only essential for outback mining sites, but also for the Diggers and Dealers convention itself.

“NewSat is powering communications for all media at the convention this week, via a remote satellite antenna vehicle (MVS), drawing from the company’s Perth teleport,” he sad.

“Satellite communications are one of the most important tools any mine can have, without a solid connection miners are completely isolated from the outside world – this includes isolation from company offices.”

Last month, NewSat announced new business had grown 400 per cent on the previous year, which the CEO said was partly due to the company’s prevalence in the mining industry.

“NewSat has contracts with mining giants in the gas, oil, iron ore, petroleum and uranium sectors. We have gained a strong reputation amongst mining companies for providing high-speed and reliable communications solutions, which have increased our clients’ efficiency and production rates,” Mr Ballintine said.

NewSat has senior representatives at the event each year, this year is no different with regional managers from Queensland and Western Australia leading the team.
