I have encounters with joining systems lately.
First in a garden shed, no more screw the wall to the channel.
The channel was folded to accommodate a horizontal barb on the wall that locked with it.
Tap on over the barb, slide off along it.
Secondly with a Laminate floor. The way the interlock works and how they compound the material so that the thin interlock survives and is held so tightly is truly amazing.
This has brought back memories of a TV show decades ago,
The Inventors.
In the muddy haze is a presentation on that show from a man who had studied how , the little shelled animals in the tidal pools, attached themselves to rocks and devised from his observations an interlocking system.
I wonder if the two are related.
