Thanks for the economic/social world round-up.

I like gold more than the USD, but I expect the USD to do better than other western currencies (except perhaps AUD and CAD). The US still has a migthy industrial base with very significant natural resources and is a lot more flexible than Europe. It would not surprise me to see the DMark brought back at some stage, which would also be a very strong currency (Germany doing very well industrially, but has an aging population).

I guess a trillion is the old billion. I find it hard to adjust to the extra zeros.
