SPI Futures traded in a 39 point range yesterday, with a high of 6587, low of 6548 and a close of 6565 up 12 points, on volume of 11,000 contracts. Based on that range, my pivot point and R and S levels are below. SPI gapped down at the open of the night session, then headed back up before fading around 1 am. Two unfilled gaps from last night, up at 6577 and 6568 and lots below, with the first one down at 6481 from the close on June 8th, which after yesterday, many will be saying will never fill. DOW down .05 pct, SNP down .03 pct and Canada (resource driven) up .20 pct. VIX up .31 pct to 15.99.
Today in 2004, a 1.3 kilogram meteorite struck a house in Ellerslie, New Zealand causing serious damage but no injuries. The meteorite was a chondrite type, meaning it was chipped off an asteroid, rather than a piece of moon or Mars rock, and could have been basketball-sized when it impacted Earth's atmosphere at 15km a second. By the time it hit the house, its velocity had probably slowed to 100-200m a second. Worldwide, such strikes happen only once every three or four years. I just read that the chances of my house being struck by a meteorite are 1 in 3,921,910,064,328. The way my luck is going at the moment, it'll probably happen this arvo, around market close.
