I’ve rarely gone past 12 months in the last 35 years where I haven’t had to prune or rip out one of these blood letting beauties.

This one has a special place in my heart.

Doris bought 2 of them in the first year she moved to be with me.

She plonked them in front of me one day as I came in from work and told me she wanted one on the south corner of the shed and one up against the south boundary fence.

She even put some tape on the ground so I knew exactly where to put them.

A few years back I did the ultimate prune on the shed one, tied a rope around the base and kept driving until I was a few kilometres out of town before I cut the rope

She was a bit upset about todays pruning technique but even less impressed with my suggestion that I should have watered in the young plant (all those years ago) with Petrol.



I’m hoping that I can load the second half with less punctures.
